Everything people ask
If your question is not here, write to us and it will be.
Is Taperly free?
Yes, free to download and free to use. A few optional extras may come later.
Is this a training app? I already use TrainingPeaks.
No, and it does not replace one. TrainingPeaks is your training. Taperly is everything before race day: what needs doing and when, what goes in which bag, and the details you look up on race morning. Your plan stays wherever it already lives.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone at launch. Android is not built yet: we build it when 100 people have asked for it, and there is a button on the front page to add yourself to that count.
Do I need an account?
No sign-up, no login. Everything lives on your phone and is ready the moment you open the app.
Does it work offline?
Yes. Races, packing and checklists all work with no signal, on the plane or at a venue with no coverage. The forecast refreshes the next time you're online.
Will it work for my exact race distance?
Yes. Sprint, Olympic, Half (the middle distance, 1.9km swim, 90km bike, 21.1km run) and Full, plus custom distances for anything in between or off-piste.
How does the weather feature work?
Add your race location and date and Taperly pulls the air forecast for the venue: temperature, wind and rain. It turns that into suggestions for what to pack. It does not measure water temperature and it cannot tell you whether a wetsuit will be allowed, because that is decided on the day by the officials from the measured water.
Does it sync with Garmin or Strava?
Not at launch. Taperly works on its own, fully offline. Message us and tell us which integration you'd want first.
Is my data private?
It stays on your device. We don't track your race data, sell it, or need you to hand it over. Your kit list is yours.
When is it launching?
It is out on the App Store now, free, and it is a beta. Android is coming later, and the site will say when.
