White bag. Clothes for the walk to the start, and everything you want the moment you finish. Many races take this bag from you at the swim start and hand it back after the line.

Blue bag. Everything between the water and the bike course. At most races the bike is checked in the day before, which splits this bag in three: what goes ON THE BIKE has to be there before the bag is, what you CARRY IN goes with you on the morning because it cannot sit out overnight, and the rest is the bag itself. Each line says which.

Red bag. What you want waiting for you when the bike is racked.

Orange bag. Where a race offers it, this reaches you roughly halfway on the bike. Not every event runs special needs.

Black bag. Where a race offers it, this reaches you out on the run. A spare tube in here is a spare tube you cannot use.

Everything that has to leave the house and belongs to no race bag. A bike that arrives is a bike you have to put back together, and nothing in that hour can be bought at eight on a Saturday night.
